Spring in Amador – a two day visit

Springtime in Amador
A perfect Spring getaway in Amador is just what you need to rejuvenate your soul!
Here are a couple of fun days itinerary in our region that combines outdoor activities, history, retail therapy and some liquid gold!
Day One – just arriving in Amador
Afternoon Railbike ride in Ione – this two-hour tour is fun for all ages. The power assisted railbikes give you the necessary boost to get some pedaling exercise but not feel exhausted at the end of the tour. You’ll ride on the historic railroad tracks emerging on a ridge amidst rolling hills, historic oaks, expansive views and roaming cattle. Available spring – fall.
Rancho Victoria Vineyard – Greilich Rd off of Hwy 16 Enjoy sweeping vineyard views from the tasting room while tasting refreshing sparkling or chardonnay. Be sure to try one of their well-balanced red blends. Wonderful hospitality by down to earth people.
Check-in at Rest in time for our daily 5pm Wine Hour featuring local wine and appetizers from the Award Winning Taste Restaurant and Wine Bar.
Depending on the day dine at one of the local restaurants in town or a short drive away.
Enjoy freshly baked cookies and a cup of tea by the firepit before turning in.

Day Two – Settling In
Breakfast at Rest is a feast for all. A recent guest stated, “The first time we stayed at Rest we skipped the breakfast. Our loss. We won’t do that again! Everything is fresh and wonderful.”
Head over to the Kennedy Mine in Jackson. There is a great 2.3 mile hiking trail that wanders around the property. A simple online pre-registration is required for the trail. Take the time after the hike to enjoy a self-guided tour of the Kennedy Mine grounds and step back in history.
Enjoy a stroll up and down Main Street Jackson. Favorites are the Biggest Little Kitchen Store, Jackpot Jens, The Blue Door Bakery (sourdough bread), The Candy Shoppe and Rosebuds Café for a refueling after the hike. The coffee drinks at Boilerworks Café are expertly made and a great pick me up for the afternoon.
A quick 10 minute drive North on Hwy 49 to Amador City, the smallest incorporated city in California. Amador City is home to three wine tasting rooms and a brewery. There are delightful treasures at the local stores featuring garden and home décor, kitchen wares, local art and The Amador Whitney Museum, a Woman’s Gold Rush History Museum open on the weekends. The town is fun to explore with hidden treasures down the tiny side streets. Stay in Amador City for dinner at the Imperial Hotel or Moonrise Pizza and Pinball.
Enjoy S’Mores in the courtyard at Rest
Day Three – Don’t Make Me Go Back Home!!!
Linger over Breakfast at Rest
Drive into the Shenandoah Valley for a visit to the Amador Flower Farm and treat yourself to a drought tolerant Day Lilly from their hundreds of varieties. Stop at Casino Mine Ranch tasting room for a glass of wine and nosh.
Come back to Rest and stay another night there is so much more 😊
